Individual Written Assessment – Understanding yourself as a leader

The policy is how the community interacts with the social challenges. Any government enactment that influences the welfare of individuals like regulations, laws and executive orders is known as a social policy. An expansive part of social arrangement perceives that benefit and philanthropic social offices foster strategies that affect customers and those they serve, causing them to have social ramifications. However, policy affects the behavior of human beings and their significance in social-work practices (Herrick, 2013). The essay’s key elements will explain the importance of policy at all levels of social work practice.

The social policy enables one to understand the social challenges in the community and their causes. The challenges affect the individuals and thus give ways to implement the policies to solve the social issues. The problems can be issues connected with poverty, education, crime and unemployment. Moreover, after identifying the challenges, the social practices bring about change to improve the living standards and offer protection of the people, especially the vulnerable in society.

The policy enables one to get a lot of involvement in the community and get practical ways with the government influence to solve the social problems. By understanding and learning about policy, we know the society and world that we live in. For example, with the National Health Service, everyone requires essential health services and needs to know the necessary changes in the National Health Service, which may impact getting vital health services (Antwi, 2017). By eliminating the social challenges in the community, we also eliminate the chances of experiencing such problems, either small or big.

To conclude, any government enactment that influences the welfare of individuals, like regulations, laws, and executive orders is known as a social policy. However, social policy is essential in social work practices.  It enables one to understand the social challenges in the community and their causes and get a lot of involvement in the community and get practical ways with the government influence to solve the social problems.
