Word count/duration:

There is a word limit of 250 words. Use your computer to total the number of words used in your assignment. However, do not include the reference list at the end of your assignment in the word count. In-text citations will be included in the additional 10%-word count. If you exceed the word limit by more than 10% the marker will stop marking at 250 words plus 10%.

Aims: This written assessment requires the student to demonstrate an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a registered nurse and how professional accountability impacts decisions, actions and behaviours essential in the role of nursing.

Details: Students are required to submit a written assessment answering the following statement:

Question: Discuss how nursing standards can be used to inform nursing practice and enhance patient safety. Submission: Correct Writing Style-Students will write the short answer response with the following elements:
– All ideas that come from another source of information, such as a journal article, a book, a website, or a report are appropriately referenced using the American Psychological Association (APA) (7th ed.) referencing style as per the Western Sydney University American Psychological Association referencing style guide, which is available from the Western Sydney University Library website;

– The short answer is written in a formal tone, without the use of colloquial or slang words/ expressions;

– The short answer is an objective discussion about professional communication in nursing and therefore should be written in the third person (he/she/it or they/them/their)

– The short answer is written clearly and concisely using correct spelling and grammar and written in complete sentences and paragraphs (bullet point summaries are NOT acceptable)

– You are recommended to regularly submit early drafts of your short answer to Turnitin. Use your preliminary Originality Report to reflect on the feedback, and make improvements to your writing and APA 7th referencing in­ text and the reference list. You are expected to ensure you have summarised and acknowledged all sources and that your Turnitin Originality Report contains only an acceptable small percentage matching. You can submit multiple times to Turnitin. However, only your final Turnitin report received by the assessment due date/and time will be recorded for marking.
