This section is about understanding marketing in the digital age and how marketers can seek out trends and information via various information sources such as newspapers and magazines, blogs, social networking sites and consumer- generated-content (e.g. You-Tube), business databases, company reports, etc….  

Having chosen a country market your task is to assess and evaluate what are the digital consumer trends, developments and behaviours/patterns, for your chosen market. Remember factors such as demographics, levels of technology-usage and reach, innovation, who the main digital providers are within your chosen country.  

This section is about considering the role of culture and the impact this has on marketing communications within your chosen market. Firstly, identify an advertising campaign or single advert of your choice relevant to the country market you have chosen and produce a critique of this advert/campaign.  

Using theories of consumer behaviour your task is to explain how the advert might influence consumers within this country – what is the target audience? What is the purpose of the advert? How does the campaign seek to influence consumer behaviour? How does the role of culture and the cultural habits and background influence the advertising and the messaging being communicated? How is the advert communicated – what media is chosen (digital/TV/Print)   

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this assessment, you will be able to:

  • Interpret aspects of the marketing strategies employed by business that are most likely to reach, inform and persuade consumers in their purchase buyer-behaviour.
  • Effectively communicate information in a strucutred and appropriate written, verbal and digital format that demonstrates an awareness of the topic and delivered in such a way as to demonstrate understanding.

Your grade will depend on the extent to which you meet these learning outcomes in the way relevant for this assessment.
