Organisation Behaviour

Bob Marley’s early life was impacted by the things that were going around him. The psychosocial theory explains how the social climate affects a person’s life. The fact that Bob Marley came from a background where the Black community was looked down upon affects his attitude in the music he produces. The song is relatable to people who come from such harsh backgrounds. There is a clear relationship between the songs and the pain behind them. However, Bob Marley tries to ease the burden of the Black community in facing racial discrimination.

The social cognitive theory also explains the style of music and how it shapes Marley for his life experiences. Through the social cognitive theory, it is also easy to understand Marley’s love for family. Social cognition explains that the things that we see in life happen to affect us directly (Rumjaun & Narod 2020). In this regard, Marley wanted to change the family’s view to his children by being there for them. Also, Marley emphasizes the need for love because he understands that it is the only way to have a peaceful life is to love each other. The family that surrounds Marley reflects his style and way of life. His children still have the Rasta hairstyle, which is in line with the social cognitive theory. More importantly, some of the children sing reggae music, which also shows the influence that Bob Marley had.

In the end, social learning and psychosocial theory explain how the group around Marley is affected by his way of life and his music choices.
