Merit (2:1) 60%-69%

It identifies hard-to-reach groups and explains well why it is important to involve them in decision making. Accurate referencing and a wide range of references provided. The line of argument is very well developed and good evidence provided.

Distinction (First) 70% and above

Excellent writing skills are shown, setting out the advantages of involving residents in decision making very well. Analysing Arnstein’s ladder of participation, the essay critically analyses the different forms of involvement. It identifies hard-to-reach groups and explains very well why it is important to involve them in decision making. Very accurate referencing and an excellent range of references. The line of argument is compelling and excellent recent evidence provided.
