Task requirements

OVERVIEW:

The management of Occasion Ltd. has decided to enter the smartwatch market. It has invested over £4 million pounds in research and development, hiring software engineers and timepiece inventors. They know the highly competitive market they have planned to enter. Now they recognise the need for expert marketers to help them penetrate the market. As a consultant marketeer, your role is to propose a
marketing plan that will last twelve weeks and a budget of £100,000. The project proposal should state the specific marketing goals that you aim to achieve – such as capturing three percent of the market share or generating revenues of £7 million pounds in the first quarter. The project proposal needs to highlight the benefits, risk factors, and budget so that the management can consider the viability of the marketing plan. Remember, you are a marketing consultant who has been hired to write a marketing project proposal to convince the management to make the decision to go ahead with the marketing project.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TASK – WHAT YOU ARE BEING ASKED TO DO?

  1. Prepare an annotated PowerPoint presentation (8-10 slides maximum) to present to the management of Occasion Ltd. The slides should detail the marketing project proposal and rationale – carry out relevant research e.g., background information on the smartwatch market size, competitors etc, potential customers and the likelihood of success) (LO1) (500 words]

    a. The presentation slides should be attached to the report as an appendix. Include speaker notes at the bottom of each slide to explain the key points on the slide (Max 500 words).
YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DO A LIVE PRESENTATION. Keep the slides succinct and use bullet points where necessary to be brief. The presentation slides should be enclosed, followed by the report in the appendix.

  2. Prepare a client report that covers the following: (LO2, LO3 & LO4) [1,000 words]

    a. The Project Plan (discuss the marketing plan for the LifeTime smartwatch using a GANTT chart) (150 words).
    b. Project Scope (discuss the marketing plan and launch cost, and marketing channels) (300 words)
    c. Project Risk (what potential risks could impact the launch of the new product LifeTime, e.g., cost overruns, delays in specific tasks, marketing channels, competition from other smartwatches like LifeTime) (300 words)
    d. Project Success (how will you measure the LifeTime product’s marketing success?) (250 words)

The report should be written in a formal business report format, consisting of a title page, a table of contents, the main body of the work using appropriate headings covering the above four points, and a reference list compliant with UoS Harvard referencing.
