Assignment Brief:

Following on from assignment 1, you are now required to undertake research and write a research report on your chosen research area.

Submission Format

Your assignment should be presented in a report format and the final written report should be 3500 words in length, within a margin of +/-10%. Word count excludes the contents page, headings, information contained within tables, references, bibliography and appendices. Work should be presented professional using tables, graphical
illustrations and appropriate appendices.

You must make use of secondary research and must reference your work appropriately.

All your primary research must be included in the report as appendices.

  • Design and undertake the research investigation in accordance with the agreed specification and procedures outlined in your proposal, matching the resources efficiently to the research question
  • Explain how the methods you chose helped achieve the research, and any changes to your initial timescale

  • Collect data and critically analyse and interpret the results in terms of the original research specification

  • Using a variety of different methods and techniques make judgements about the data and literature you found.
  • Once collated and evaluated analyse the findings and interpret what the data means. It must be clear what you think the data is saying and the reasons for this. The outcomes here will inform your recommendations.

  • On the basis of the outcomes make informed recommendations for how to move forward in you specific context. All recommendations must be informed by research and cannot be based on opinion.
  • Present your findings and recommendations in a formal written report using appropriate graphs, charts and diagrams to illustrate this with.

M1 – Identify and apply strategies to find appropriate solutions – Apply clear research methodologies for a research project as identified in your proposal.

M2 – Select/design and apply appropriate methods/ techniques – Select appropriate and realistic techniques to analyse research findings and data.

M3 – Present and Communicate appropriate findings – The appropriate structure (as per guidance) for a formal report has been submitted

In addition the above Pass and Merit criteria:
D1 – Use critical reflection to evaluate own work and justify valid conclusions – Primary findings and data have been evaluated using critical thinking and review
