Assessment - Case Study Presentation

In this assessment we have to find two company for example coles and Woolworth and we need to find their last 3 annual report (5 years) of these two competitors and analyse all ratios of these two companies and interpret them. 

In this assessment which is a case study presentation, you should investigate the financial strength of an organization, and calculate the most effective solution using formulas/rationanalysis like profitability ratios which includes Gross profit margin %, net profit margin %, Return assets, %, Return of equity,,,……..liquidity analysis which includes current ratio and quick ratio,, …….Solvency analysis which includes debt to equity ratio, assets debt ratio, and proprietary ratio. Present each ratio of each company separately and present them in table or graph and interpret them and also compare the ratios of the two company. The case study presentation should be written in appropriate business language so that your analysis and discussion  have an objective tone. Your writing should be clear and concise and be in your own words. Use headings  to guide the reader and include tables or diagrams  that make the case clearer. The word count of this report should be 2000-2500 words including references and an appendix.

In your case study report, include following:

› 1. Introduce the case, including the background and  any previous studies of the issue.

› 2. Describe the purpose of the study and the specific  questions you are trying to answer.

› 3. Results describes what you found through your  investigations, e.g. the main themes that came out in interviews, responses to questionnaires, significant  observations.

› 4. Explain the significance of the study and what can  be learnt from it.

Marking criteria for the report

Executive summary    2 marks. A comprehensive executive which overviews the main content of the business report

Introduction    5 marks,      A comprehensive introduction comprising information on the type chosen company, problem statement, relevance, scope, key terms, purpose and overviews the report structure.

Analyse the issues   5 marks    Demonstrate a deep understanding of items, trends with factual reasoning beyond the company annual report, eg, comparison with competitors , industry, and factoring in economic fundamentals

Discuss alternatives   5 marks  Consider many viable and long term alternatives to solve each issue, examine the advantages and disadvantages of each alternative.

Conclusion: 4 marks   A well encompassed conclusion that summarises key findings of the report.

Task 

You will be assessed as follows;

a.  Structure the written report: Background informa tion is relevant, issues are logically ordered,  recommendations clearly relate to the issues.

b.  Calculate your answers using a variety of learning  resources.

c.  Explain resources: Referencing your work is required  at all times.

d.  Write clearly and concisely: Arguments are explicit  and succinct, appropriate headings are used,  grammar and spelling are accurate.

References: Provide a list of all sources used in your  text. The references should be completed in the IEEE  referencing style. The footer of your submitted re search report must include your name, student ID, and page number.

Submission Instructions 

For all major assessments, both formative and sum mative, the preferred layout is in 12-point Calibri, with 1.5 line spacing, 2.5 centimetres left-hand margins and  Bold headings. All assessments must be submitted  with a completed and signed cover sheet. Whenever  you use the ideas and arguments of other writers, you  must make reference to the writers and their work. By  acknowledging the work of others, you avoid plagia rism.

All submissions are to be submitted through Turnitin.  Drop-boxes linked to Turnitin will be set up in Moodle.  Assessments not submitted through these drop- boxes will not be considered. Submissions must be made by  the assessment due date.

The Turnitin similarity score will be used in determine  any plagiarism of your submitted assessment. Turnitin  will check conference web-sites, Journal articles, on line resources and your peer’s submissions for plagiarism. You can see your Turnitin similarity score when  you submit your assessments to the appropriate drop box. If your similarity score is of concern you will have  a chance to change your assessment and resubmit.
